Christmas time is often a time spent with family around a shared meal. For many of you in the bay at present, you are likely 10000 miles away from some of your loved ones. Do not despair, you certainly won’t go hungry in Hiriketiya. We have some amazing restaurants in the bay and I know that most of them will be dishing up some treats over the Xmas season.
It pains me to leave so many great spots off the list, but here are a few new spots worth checking out this year.
Raa Hiriketiya @raa.hiriketiya is a recently opened Arrack bar & restaurant, brought to you by some of the team behind the infamous Smoke & Bitters. Raa brings some amazing local flavours and fusions to your plate, that are not to be missed.
La Luna @laluna_hiri has recently opened a new restaurant in Hiriketiya (they have another in Colombo) and is certainly serving up some lovely dishes. The property features an indoor/outdoor setting and is a cozy spot to enjoy an evening meal on the lawn. Plenty of space for kids to run around also (always a bonus).
Bacuzzi @bacuzzi.hiriketiya is as they say ‘the only Italian food by Italians in Hiriketiya’ and it surely won’t disappoint. As goes without saying they have fantastic pizza & pasta. Their sea views and undercover seating make this a perfect spot to watch the evening pass by with an episode of ‘people watching’.
The Ruin @theruin.hiriketiya has just opened its doors (although they don’t really have doors as such) providing another amazing beachfront sunset location. The rustic chic fit-out of an old abandoned property has been a real hit and people speak highly of the food and drinks. I hope to test it out before the Xmas rush.
So, there we have four solid recommendations for a sit-down meal over the Christmas break. I hope your dining experience is a fantastic one!
Merry Christmas
