After a busy month of renovations—and some well-deserved holiday time for our team who worked incredibly hard through the peak season—the doors at Salt House are officially open again. We are so excited to welcome you back!

Over the break, we focused on making our rooms even better, using the feedback and suggestions you’ve shared with us. We always want to provide the absolute best space for you to relax and truly enjoy your holidays. For us, it’s not just about a comfortable bed; it’s about helping you create beautiful memories to take back home with you. Our restaurant is also looking stunning, and the kitchen and front-of-house staff are fully charged and ready to serve up your favorites.

Something a lot of people don’t know is that the weather on the South Coast of Sri Lanka during July and August is actually amazing. You get beautiful, sunny days and a great tropical vibe. Now, if you are looking for classic, clean surfing, the waves directly in our bay can get a bit messy and rough during these monsoon months due to the onshore winds. But if you’re here to enjoy the sunshine, the pool, great food, and a laid-back atmosphere, it’s a beautiful time to visit the South.

The great thing about our location on the South Coast is how easy it is to connect to the rest of the island. If you are chasing those perfect summer waves, the surf spots on the East Coast are absolutely on fire right now—and they aren’t as far away as you might think. Arugam Bay is in the middle of its prime wave season, making spots like Main Point, Whiskey Point, Peanut Farm, Pottuvil Point, and Lighthouse a fantastic road trip from here.

You can easily break up the drive with a stop in Ella, which is always a magical option for exploring the misty hills and tea plantations. While you’re there, stopping by The Clay Pot Ella is an absolute must for some of the best rice and curry in Sri Lanka. For a bit of wellness, we highly recommend dropping into @1worldyoga for a rejuvenating yoga class with Cristina or a deeply grounding sound healing session with Antonio.

If you plan to head a bit further north, July and August are also excellent months for climbing Lion Rock in Sigiriya. The weather is usually dry and warm, making it perfect for an early morning climb before the afternoon heat sets in.

We are so happy to be back doing what we love. Make sure to keep checking our blog every week, because we’re going to keep you posted with everything you need to know, local tips, and inside looks before you plan your next trip!

Cheers,
SALT.
